Mauricio Pochettino
MAURICIO Pochettino is looking for his first league win against a Manuel Pellegrini side today.
The pair met each other seven times in La Liga clashes, and the Saints boss only managed one draw and six defeats.
Their first meeting was in 2008/09 not long after Pochettino had taken over at Espanyol, suffering a 1-0 loss to Pellegrini’s Villareal.
In 2009/10 Pochettino’s Espanyol were beaten 3-0 twice by Pellegrini’s Real Madrid.
In 2010/11, Pellegrini, right, guided Malaga to a 2-0 win over Espanyol.
The following season, 2011/12, Malaga twice beat Espanyol 2-1.
The two managers last clashed in October 2012 when Espanyol and Malaga drew 0-0, thereby ending Pochettino’s losing run.
