KENNET Ospreys’ match at Gold Valley was a low weight affair due to it being a silver fish only match.

Evergreen Pat Hollies put all his experience to good use by topping out with seven skimmers totalling 9lb 1oz on feeder and dead red maggots.

Pete Wooldridge bagged 8lb 13oz of skimmers on feeder, maggot and chocolate flavoured groundbait, would you believe.

Steve Hunt’s even 7lb came next, followed by André Grandjean’s pole and caster catch of 6lb 9oz.

Eighteen fished and not all caught.

Last Sunday Camrose AC went to the newly stocked Whitehouse Lake at Tadley and it was Pete Morris who did it best with 25lb 10oz of carp, bream and tench on pole and maggot.

Darren Brown conjured up 21lb of mixed on pole and pellet. Brian Orchard’s 18lb 8oz of carp was a pole and maggot affair, while Paul Hunt put 10lb 12oz in the sack.

Ten fished and caught.

Adventure AS travelled to Milton Pool, where Rob Gallagher weighed 28lb 12oz of carp on pole and meat to score. Pete Fincham’s 24lb 12oz was a pole and pellet affair. Mick Biles’ 24lb 2oz of carp was next, followed by Graham Spiller’s 16lb 12oz.

Twelve fished and all caught except Kevin Smith.

I managed to sneak a win at the Basingstoke Railway Club match at Timsbury Manor last Sunday, with three carp on pole and corn for 12lb 4oz. John Hooley’s one carp weighed 7lb 2oz, while Les Partridge caught one carp for 7lb.

Camrose AC went to Cheriton Farm Lake, where Brian Orchard won the match with 67lb 11oz of carp on the pole and pellet. Stacey’s supremo Keith Brown fished the pellet waggler for his 54lb 14oz of carp. Dave Brent used a similar tactic for his 43lb 10oz of carp, while Darren Brown caught 34lb 13oz pole and pellet. Colin Ariss took his grandson, Bobby Wrightson, for the first time, and he duly turned his granddad over, “not an easy chore”. Thirteen fished and caught.

Sixteen Kennet Ospreys went to Bowsaw Lake, where Andy Leith won it with 93lb 11oz of carp and chub on the method. Gerry Nickells fished the method and dead red maggots for his 44lb 13oz. Pat Hollies’ 41lb of carp was also on the method, followed by Pete Spendiff’s 33lb 4oz of carp on the feeder.

Sixteen fished and caught.

Adventure AS did proper fishing on the Kennet and Avon Canal at Little Bedwyn last week and Colin Shepherd won it with 12lb 13oz of perch and skimmers on worm. Lionel Cook’s 12lb 13oz was also a pole perch and worm affair. Bob Smethhurst’s 9lb of perch came next, followed by Mick Fordham’s 8lb 10oz.

Having booked winter breaks before and after Christmas, ’er indoors is now looking for spring excursions.

I’m just wondering if I can find a few matches to fish in Lanzarote, Tenerife, Majorca or Minorca. perhaps I could move abroad and come back to fish club matches. Do you think she would agree?
