Basingstoke Hockey Club’s ladies continued their run of success with a 3-1 win over visiting Wimbledon.

Claire Bowman and Clare Keenan scored in the first-half to put the hosts in the driving seat.

After the away side clawed a goal back, Catriona Bausor netted Basingstoke’s third and the victory puts the ladies five points clear at the top of South Division 3B.

The IIs put in a dominating performance to inflict a crunching 3-0 defeat on visiting Portsmouth and Southsea.

Bev Mackay opened the scoring with a reverse-stick rocket, before adding a second late in the second half.

Another goal from Sarah Mainprise was supported by a strong defensive battle by Jo Armson and Helen Hornsby to secure the win.

The thirds lost 4-3 to City of Portsmouth, while the fourth won 5-0 against Gosport, with the scoring being led by Philippa Spicer with a brace, while Trisha Flynn, Katie Smith and Lynda Day netted singles.

Despite a spirited performance, the Vs lost 4-0 to league leaders Fareham.

In the men’s section, Grant Rouse netted in the dying minutes to snaffle a draw for a first XI against Southampton.

The second team put on a much improved show compared to the previous weeks as they beat visiting New Milton 3-1.

The hosts opened the scoring in the second-half through Mark Easto at the back post.

The lead widened as Paul Handley netted from close range, before Handley, Ian Watson and Cameron Saint linked up on the break to make it three.

The visitors pulled back a late consolation goal, but Basingstoke easily won.

The IIIs lost 6-1 to Petersfield, while the fourths returned to winning ways with a 3-2 win over Trojans.

The Vs drew 2-2 with Fleet & Ewshot, and the Vikings put an impressive nine goals past Yateley for their biggest win of the season. The Vets also won 2-0 against Old Kingstonians.
