BASINGSTOKE RFC missed out on a fourth win on the trot, as they lost 51-38 at CS Rugby in National League Three London on Saturday.

The home side got off to a great start, when full back James Houston scored after just two minutes and Scott Hadden kicked over the conversion.

The lead was soon extended, as winger Jon Webber went over for an unconverted try.

CS Rugby’s great start continued as they made it 19-0, thanks to a penalty try and Hadden’s conversion after 15 minutes.

’Stoke may have been stunned, but they got on the scoreboard five minutes later, thanks to flanker Chris Kiernan’s try.

Visiting fly-half Adam Davies then converted his own score to reduce the home side’s lead to seven points.

However, CS Rugby scored an injury time try at the end of the first-half, from Webber, his second of the match, to leave the score 24-12 at the break.

Five minutes after the interval, ‘Stoke scored thanks to scrum half Jamie Fish, but Davies failed with the conversion.

The home side replied as first centre Ben Turner went over for an unconverted try and then Hadden kicked a penalty to make it 32-17 after 59 minutes.

Just after the hour, ‘Stoke’s winger Karl Buttle scored and Davies kicked the extras.

CS Rugby responded with five more points from fly-half Hadden to make it 37-24.

The visitors then enjoyed a purple patch as they scored two tries in the space of three minutes from Davies, his second of the match, and Tim Richards, which saw them take the lead 38-37.

However, the home side were not to be beaten, and with five minutes left Claude Springer scored and Hadden converted.

Then in injury time, at the end of the game, Hadden scored his second try which he converted for a final score of 51-38.
