Lots of goals. A four-point weekend. Up to second position in the league. So there is plenty to celebrate and plenty to think about.

I haven’t come across too many coaching manuals with chapter headings like, What to do when you’re three up after three minutes, six up after 20, with 40 minutes still to play?

I don’t think we’ll often find ourselves in that position, but that is something we’ll address this week.

Still, a win on the road was a great way to start the weekend, despite shipping too many goals in the second period of our game against Slough.

Sunday was another great night on home ice. The packed rink created a great atmosphere for our defeat of Guildford.

I wrote last week about how the performance of our young players was energising the whole team.

They clearly have the same effect on the crowd. Sitting on the bench, we could feel the crowd responding to (Stuart) Mogg, (Cameron) Wynn and (Danny) Ingoldsby taking on Guildford’s top line.

It’s easy to forget that Ingoldsby, for example, is only 16-years-old.

We enjoy the successes of our team-mates. In my opinion Joe Rand is the best two-way player in the league.

He has shut down the top player in every team we’ve played against.

His physicality and competitiveness were fully rewarded with his four goals against Slough.

Aaron Connolly saved his best game of the season for Sunday evening.

He brings so much energy to the ice and his hard work resulted in a couple of goals. He fully deserved his man-of-the-match award.

And we all take pride in the selection of Zach Sullivan for GB and Stuart Mogg to represent the Universities this year.

Time to join the stampede. See you Saturday.

Doug.
