Basingstoke Buffalo enjoy first win of the season
NEIL Leary scored twice as the Basingstoke Buffalo enjoyed their first win of the season – 6-4 on the Isle of Wight against the Wightlink Tigers.
It was the home side who scored first at 2:07, but 79 seconds later they trailed 2-1 as Elliott Dewey and Greg Martyn both scored, the second Buffalo goal being assisted by Chris Beal.
The Buffalo then scored two goals in the space of 26 seconds to lead 4-1 at the end of the first period as Francesco Tambellini netted and then Sam Dollin fired in from a Matt Lawday pass.
The second session saw the visitors extend their lead further as Leary scored from Ryan Sutton.
The home side then hit back in the final 20 minutes with three unanswered goals to make it 5-4.
It was left to Leary to score the Buffalo’s sixth goal, again assisted by Sutton, to make sure of the win.
Kurt Tyrrell was the visitors’ man-of-the-match.
The Buffalo are next in action on Sunday, November 3, when the Slough Jets are the visitors.
