Lee double gives Saints a draw

TADANARI LEE did his best to catch the eye of Saints first team boss Mauricio Pochettino with two goals to help Southampton’s Development Squad record a 2-2 draw in their Barclays Under-21 Premier League clash with Blackburn Rovers at Staplewood last night.
Saints had already gone close through Omar Rowe after Lloyd Isgrove provided the cross, Blackburn keeper David Raya managing to deflect his shot wide.
After 30 minutes a shot from Lee trickled wide of the Rovers goal.
Then Raya could only block a fierce shot by Rowe but made a superb save from Lee’s follow up.
But ten minutes later Lee did score, side-footing home after Ryan Seager hit the post.
Hugo Molina got Blackburn back on terms after half-time with a effort that went in off Saints’ Matt Targett.
But Lee soon struck again after Isgrove pulled the ball back across goal.
Saints were prevented from taking all the points when Blackburn’s John O’Sullivan slotted an equaliser past Paulo Gazzaniga.
Blackburn twice went close to a winner but Saints also came close to clinching the match and again it was Lee who was the dangerman.
Jake Sinclair, who had come on as substitute, beat one defender on the left wing and slid the ball invitingly across goal.
Lee, right, connected with a powerful angled drive but the effort took a deflection and went inches wide of the Blackburn goal.
