REPORT - Bracknell Bees 2 Basingstoke Bison 5
TWO goals in the space of nine seconds in the final period made sure the Basingstoke Bison beat the Bracknell Bees 5-2, in their first trip to the Hive this season.
The home side had looked to have set-up a grandstand finish as they reduced the Herd’s lead to one goal with seven minutes to go, but Joe Greener fired home at 55:10 and then Joe Miller scored almost immediately to make sure of the victory.
Earlier in the contest, the Bison got off to a great start, as they scored on their first powerplay of the night, as Joe Rand netted from close range from Miroslav Vantroba’s rebound.
The lead was then doubled at 6:39, as Aaron Connolly converted a great pass from Nicky Chinn.
The Bees hauled themselves back into the contest, with a powerplay strike of their own from former Bison forward Ollie Bronnimann, but the Herd regained their two goal advantage thanks to a nice wrist shot from Miller at 35:57.
The final session saw the Herd run into penalty trouble with four consecutive powerplay which eventually told as Kamil Tvrdek found a way past Dean Skinns at 52:57.
At that point the game looked set to go down to the wire, but Greener and Miller’s quick goals finished the Bees off.
The Bison are back in action tomorrow night with a tough looking trip to face the Sheffield Steeldogs, who the Herd’s leading points scorer from last season Greg Chambers plays for.
