Basingstoke Town manager Jason Bristow's weekly column
6:00am Saturday 19th October 2013 in Sport
LAST week we produced our worst 45 minutes of the season. It was not acceptable for Basingstoke Town FC.
During the first half we were second best and that resulted in the game being over by half-time.
We showed a bit of a response in the second half but Havant were worthy winners.
This type of performance always poses questions, but I have spent hours this week watching the footage of the game and have my own thoughts on why the first half went so wrong.
This week we face Boreham Wood, who, despite their league position, are on a good run.
It will be equally tough and we will have to work harder than we have in any game this season to come away with a result.
We hope to welcome Simon Dunn back into the squad after injury, but Robbie Rice is a doubt after picking up a slight knock in training on Tuesday.
New signing Ryan Debattista made his debut last week. Ryan is a young lad who has a lot to learn but he is an excellent finisher, has impressed in training and we hope he can have more of an impact for us over the next few weeks.
As we have all looked on with envy, I must congratulate Ben Dillon and his Hartley Wintney squad on their fantastic achievement in reaching the next round of the FA Cup.
Ben is doing a fantastic job and I wish them well in the next round as they aim to reach the first round proper.
