Basingstoke Disabled Games hailed a great success
THE Basingstoke Disabled Games once again proved to be a great success, as teams from right across the south of England took part.
The event, which has now been running for 38 years, was held at Cranbourne Business and Enterprise College and saw a total of 86 competitors take part from Gosport, Aylesbury and Southampton – as well as host club Basingstoke Disport Beavers.
There were 17 different events and the medals were handed out by special guests Rotary Club of Basingstoke president Helen Ricketts and Basingstoke mayor Dan Putty.
Organiser of the event, Julian Thomas, said: “It was a great success and everyone enjoyed themselves. I must thank all the helpers as without them the event would not be possible.”
Next year’s event is already pencilled in at Cranbourne for September 30 and Basingstoke Disports will be fundraising to meet the costs of staging it.
The club are on the look-out for sponsors and anyone wishing to help can contact organiser Thomas on 07590 430082.
