Young Bison suffer final-period heartache
THE Basingstoke under-12 Bison were beaten 4-3 in Peterborough as the home side scored twice in the final period.
Having gone a goal behind after just 57 seconds, the visiting Herd levelled things thanks to an unassisted goal from Ross Clarke.
Peterborough then regained the lead, but it was short-lived as seven seconds later Kaiden Meyer converted a pass from Max O’Donoghue to tie the game once more.
The visitors then took the lead thanks to an excellent short-handed strike from Joseph Faulkner and still led 3-2 at the second buzzer.
However, the home side made sure of victory with two goals in the space of two minutes and, despite having nine minutes left, the young Herd were unable to force a draw.
The under-18 Bison suffered a 10-0 defeat at home to Guildford with netminder Jordan Lawday winning the Herd’s man-of-the-match award, having faced 65 shots.
