Hatch Warren Phoenix get new kit
BASINGSTOKE'S Hatch Warren Phoenix FC have been given a helping hand by local McDonald’s franchisee Tony Bennett, who has provided some much needed new kit for the club’s under-12 side.
Bennett who owns nine McDonald’s restaurants in the area, has stepped in to support Hatch Warren Phoenix FC, who are twinned with one his Brighton Hill Retail Park restaurant as part of the McDonald’s Community Football Programme.
The programme aims to encourage more people to get involved in the game either as players, supporters or coaches, with kit and equipment donations being just one element of the programme to help raise the standards of grassroots football.
Sir Geoff Hurst, McDonald’s Director of Football, said: “Initiatives like the McDonald’s kit and equipment programme help clubs to provide the right training tools and kit so that they can continue to offer a great standard of grassroots football and coaching to the young people in their community.
“It is with the help of franchisees such as Tony that allows grassroots football clubs like Hatch Warren Phoenix FC to flourish.”
Bennett added: “It is a great honour to be able to help out Hatch Warren Phoenix FC.
“They are a great local club who have a superb football ethic. Without their effort, hundreds of kids in the area wouldn’t be able to play football every weekend.
“This brand new kit is a reward for everything that they do in the local community and I want to wish them the best of luck for the season.”
Hatch Warren Phoenix FC are looking forward to another season of exciting football in the Peter Houseman Youth League, with a strong squad of players the team are looking to improve on their best season ever.
Having collected the much coveted Fair Play award in season 2012/13 coach Daren Bavister was greeted by big smiles from the players as it was announced that they would be wearing a brand new kit this coming season.
Bavister added: “The kit is fantastic and all of the players love it. It has come just at the right time with the start of the season just around the corner and hopefully we can put on some brilliant performances in it this year.
“The boys have worked hard all season and returned to training this week keen as ever. They all know that it will be an exciting season ahead with some tough opposition to face but they are up for the challenges ahead.
“We are grateful to Tony for his support and look forward to working with him over the coming years.”
