THE Royals six game unbeaten run came to an end when they beaten at Championship leaders Burnley 2-1 on Saturday.
The home side opened the scoring after 21 minutes from Danny Ings, as he slotted home a cross from Kieran Trippier.
Reading’s best chance in the first-half came from Pavel Pogrebnyak who forced Burnley goalie Tom Heaton to tip over.
Sam Vokes doubled the doubled the advantage 10 minutes from time, but the Royals hit back immediately as Pogrebnyak’s header bounced in off the knee of Jason Shackell for an own goal.
This set up a nervous finish to the game, but the home side held on.
Reading boss Nigel Adkins said: “Burnley were very good again today and their front two were exceptional throughout.”
Due to the international break, Reading are next in action on Saturday October 19 at home to Doncaster.
