Chris Lavisher scores five in Overton win
CHRIS Lavisher scored five times as Overton United went goal crazy beating visiting Bishop’s Waltham Town 8-0 in the Hampshire Premier League last Saturday.
It was Overton’s biggest win of the season and boss Titch Bloomfield was quick to point out it was his team’s performance that secured the big victory.
Bloomfield said: “People will look at the result and think they can’t be any good, but they have been a mid-table side for the last few seasons.
“We produced an excellent performance, the best since I have been boss.
“With our pitch at Overton being impeccable, we were able to play some lovely stuff and it was a joy to watch.”
Lavisher opened the scoring as he followed up a shot from Alex Jupp and that is how it remained to half-time.
At half-time boss Bloomfield told his players, he felt if they scored another goal they would end up with five or six and that proved to be the case.
In fact they scored a magnificent seven in the last 45 minutes with Lavisher starting the goal rush as he latched onto a through ball from Danny Houseman.
Lavisher then quickly completed his hat-trick and Jupp added a fourth after a nice one-two with Laith Aldoori.
Overton’s fifth goal came from the penalty spot as Dave Parry was brought down and Chris Morris slotted in.
Lavisher added another to his tally as he headed in a free-kick and then a Chris Morris run into the box saw him drill home a corner.
It was left to Lavisher to complete the scoring as the side moved up to 10th in the table.
Ollie Bode had an outstanding game at the back and goalkeeper Sean O’Brien made a couple of good saves to secure his clean sheet.
Left back Aldoori was Overton’s man-of-the-match, as so much came from him down the left wing.
Next up for Overton in the Hampshire Premier League is a visit from lowly Bournemouth Sports on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
