Totally Tennis introduce new fitness testing
TOTALLY Tennis coach Simon James has introduced new player fitness testing – and the first series of tests have already taken place.
The three-hour testing session was divided into two different categories – 10-and-under and 11-plus.
The 10-and-under tests included star drill, hexagon test, standing ball throw, 20m sprint and standing broad jump.
The 11-plus tests also included a modified T test, 10m sprint, repeated sprint test and yo-yo Intermittent.
Everyone had their weight, standing height, sitting height, arm span, overhead squat, shoulder lift off and hop and stick measured.
Everyone who attended has received a report showing his or her strengths and weaknesses with areas of physical fitness that they need to work on.
Players will be tested four times a year and the next session will be on December 15.
