Basingstoke Saints loss out in seven goal thriller to Kaiser Wessex
BASINGSTOKE Saints lost out in a seven goal thriller to Kaiser Wessex in the Basingstoke and District Sunday League Division One.
After a closely contested 40 minutes of the first-half, Saints fell behind to a Scott Harvey penalty after Alex Hutchins had been brought down in the box.
Early in the second-half Kaiser extended their lead to 3-0 thanks to a brace from Hutchins, one of which was blasted in from the edge of the box.
Rick Pike pulled one back for Saints, but then Ross Norman fired in what turned out to be the winner.
In the last seven minutes Saints staged a late fight back, with Alex Brown and Andy Darracott leading the revival, but in the end they came up short losing 4-3.
North Warnborough entertained Basingstoke Sports and Social and led 1-0 at the interval with an Andrew Parker strike.
The home side extended their lead after the break through Jay Warden, Tom Davies and Ryan Williams to finish the match at 4-0 which sent them to the top of the table.
Sports and Social failed to take several chances they were able to create.
CI FC visited Republic of Chineham and took the lead through Tom Richardson, but
Wayne Finn equalised for the Republic before the break.
After the interval, the home side were reduced to 10 men after one of their players received a straight red card for foul and abusive language.
Other player take note, what you may get away with at home or in the workshop cannot be tolerated on the football field, especially in public parks.
By his actions the offender let his teammates down badly as from level pegging they lost the game 3-1 as Keith Davies and substitute Ollie Knox scored for CI.
