Rockingham not a good hunting ground for Rob Collard and Nick Foster
Hook’s Collard failed to finish the second and third races after having a good start to the day moving up from 11th on the grid to seventh at the end of race one.
An excellent start in his second outing had Collard move up to fourth by lap seven and he was looking in good shape for a podium finish.
However, a slow puncture on his front right tyre saw him forced off at Deene and to add salt into the wound he was then hit by Matt Neal whose steering rack broke seconds later at the same bend.
The non finish saw Collard forced to start at the back of the grid and having made a good start he was sent into the barriers by Jack Goff, who was trying to avoid the spinning Jeff Smith.
Looking back on another weekend of few points Collard said: “Everything that can go wrong does at the moment. I am having my worst season.
“Race one was good and then in race two I had a vibration in the car as the tyre got soft and forced me out.
“In the last race I was just in the wrong place and that is always the danger when you are coming through the field.”
Odiham’s Foster managed to finish all three races, but failed to break into the top 10 as he finished 11th, 12th and 13th.
His first race saw him manage to avoid a spinning Will Bratt which caused a three car pile-up and an early safety car. After that it was fairly uneventful for him.
In race two he went straight on at the second turn on lap three taking the escape road and rejoining at the back of the pack in 20th, but from there he fought his way back up the field to take 12th.
In the final race he was sitting nicely in tenth early on, but a few issues with the car saw him slip down to 13th.
It left Foster disappointed and he said: “I felt we should have got a couple of top 10 finishes.
“In race two, I was trying to gain places and ended up on the greasy side of the circuit and really had nothing else to do than to go straight on and luckily there was nothing there for me to hit.
“Then in race three we had a problem with the pressures in the tyres which did not help.”
The pair are back in action at Silverstone on September 29.
