Odiham boys complete historic treble
ODIHAM and Greywell Cricket Club’s under-11 team, completed a rare treble by beating Yateley in the final of the North Hampshire 15/15 Cup at May’s Bounty.
Victory in the nine-a-side tournament meant the team went through the entire summer unbeaten, adding the 15/15 cup to the North Hampshire League Division One title and Hampshire County Cup.
It’s an incredible achievement for the team as Odiham had never previously won a Division One title at any age-group, let alone picked up three titles.
In the 15/15 Cup final, Odiham batted first and found the going tough against some good Yateley bowling early on.
However, an excellent innings of 32 from Billy Pocock turned the tide, helping Odiham to 74 after 12 overs and allowing captain Jontie Sebborn to go on the attack in the closing stages.
He smashed 42 off 25 balls to help his side to a total of 114 from their 15 overs.
Yateley’s opening batsmen were dismissed early on but a good partnership saw them reach 63-2 after eight overs.
With the game evenly balanced, Pocock again played an important role, taking three wickets in an over and finishing with figures of 4-19 as Yateley were bowled out for 80 in the 13th over.
