Tadley Calleva A remain top of Division One
TADLEY Calleva A remain on top of Division One of the Basingstoke and District League after a 2-1 over visiting Bramley United.
Bramley were on top for much of the game and took the lead after 38 minutes from Rash Wurie.
Seven minutes from time sub Olly Smith played in Michael Abbott for the
equaliser and right on time Abbott sent Stephen Burgess through for the winner.
It was always expected to be a close game between the two promoted clubs, Skewers and Pure Spartan and so it proved as they fought out a 5-5 draw.
Pure were 5-2 ahead with six minutes left, but Skewers secured a point thanks to goals from Jamie Perryman, Simon Jane and finally Sam Cato, two minutes from time.
Earlier in the game, Pure’s Ross Mortlock back after suspension, got the first. Alan Burt equalised before Mortlock put away a penalty and Olly Owen made it 3-1.
Perryman netted Skewers’ second, but further goals from Owen and Chris Dobbie made it 5-2, but this was wiped out by the late rally. Chineham Albion went 2-0 up against Overton United A but it was not enough as they lost 3-2.
Nick Brennand-Carter and Leon Dolton netted for Albion by the 20th minute and they remained ahead until the 50 minute mark, when a Torrov Mitchell shot went in off the goalkeeper and then a late Ross Barber brace, including a disputed penalty, gave Overton the win.
Hook Reserves beat visiting Herriard Sports 2-0 as Lawrence Wright headed the first and Andy Parker netted the second with Tim Hearson getting assists on both. Ashley Coe, making his debut in the Herriard goal, did well.
