Basingstoke Town 2 Ebbsfleet United 2
A CONTRAVERSIAL injury-time goal denied Basingstoke Town a big win over highly-fancied Ebbsfleet United at the Camrose on Saturday.
The visitors, who were on top for long periods, took the lead after three minutes as Dean Rance fired in a fine shot from 30 yards.
They had chances to extend their lead but it was Basingstoke who scored next, very much against the run of play, Manny Williams' precise strike finding the bottom corner 10 minutes before the break.
More Ebbsfleet pressure followed in the second half but it seemed Town had snatched all three points when Neil Barrett headed home from a corner against his former club.
However, it was not to be as the visitors levelled in the third minute of added time, Shane Huke forcing the ball home from close range after Town goalkeeper Louis Wells had dropped a high ball. Basingstoke appealed that the 'keeper had been fouled but the goals stood and the points were shared.
