Tadley Calleva's FA Cup dream ended by Chalfont St Peter
TADLEY Calleva produced a great second-half performance at Southern League Central Division side Chalfont St Peter in the FA Cup, but the damage had already been done in the first 45 minutes as they lost 5-3 last Saturday.
The visitors were a goal down in the first minute and went further behind to a penalty when Les Wood was harshly penalised for handball in the area.
Matt Aslett pulled a goal back with a half-volley after being fed by Grant Powell, but by half-time it was 5-1 to Chalfont.
Brett Denham’s tireless work rate was rewarded with 10 minutes to go as a mix-up at the back allowed the striker to nip in and score.
Tadley then netted a third as James Milford’s cross was put away by Wood with a back-heel from six yards.
After the game, Tadley boss Danny Dolan said: “I must thank all the supporters who gave up their time and travelled to the game and made it a great atmosphere. We took a 100-seater bus and at least they had three goals to cheer.”
“I could not ask for any more from my players, but their boss gave them a real roasting on the pitch after the game.”
Dolan will now turn his attentions back to the Wessex League Division One campaign and a trip to East Cowes Vics.
The boss said: “We had a brilliant day out in the cup, but now we have to get back to picking up league points.”
