David Parry is Tron's hat-trick hero
DAVID Parry was Tron’s hat-trick hero as they beat visiting Republic of Chineham 5-2 at Berrydown in Basingstoke and District Sunday League Division One.
The victory came after Republic of Chineham scored the opener, but Tron, newly-transferred from the Saturday League, soon bounced back from the penalty spot on 14 minutes.
Parry converted after he was pulled down in the box.
Tron took the lead a couple of minutes later, when Parry got his second goal, and soon after, Harry Palmer increased the home lead to 3-1.
Early in the second half, Republic of Chineham pulled a goal back, but on 70 minutes Jamie Smith made the game safe for Tron with a shot from distance, before Parry completed his hat-trick 10 minutes from the end.
North Warnborough entertained Sporting Silchester in a very competitively contested game between the former champions and the newly-promoted visitors.
Silchester led at half-time through Ian Cadman’s breakaway goal, which snuck in at the near post.
The home side pressed in the second-half and a fine solo run from Andy Parker saw him wrong-foot the defence, cut inside and equalise.
The only game in Division Two saw AFC Hook draw with Eastrop Eagles 1-1 as Tim Barnett scored for Hook with a header.
The rest of the programme was not played as pitches at Brighton Hill Playing Fields and War Memorial Park were deemed unsafe.
