Rob Collard claims podium place at Knockhill
HOOK British Touring Car driver Rob Collard climbed on to the podium for the first time this season as once again Knockhill proved a happy hunting ground for the e-bay Motors driver.
It capped his best day of the season so far, having finished sixth in race one and fourth in his second outing, before bagging third in the finale of the meeting.
A delighted Collard said: “With the season I have been having, third felt like a win and I think I did really well to get that as I was on the hard tyres and everyone around me was on the soft tyre.
“We had problems in qualifying so that left me down in 12th, but once again Knockhill has been kind to me.”
For Odiham’s Nick Foster it proved to be a difficult meeting as in race one a collision, ending up with Paul O’Neil crashing into the side of circuit, broke the steering of Foster’s BMW so he had to settle for 16th place. Next time out he made little headway as he came in 11th.
The last race proved to be his best and he finished a deserved ninth.
Taking about his race one collision Foster said: “There was a little bit of contact before he entered the home straight and I ran onto the grass to try and avoid him. I don’t know what else I could have done and the stewards saw it as a racing incident.
“That mucked up the steering and it was not until the third race that I felt I was really racing.”
The pair are next in action at Rockingham on the weekend of September 14 and 15.
