Hartley Wintney progress in the FA Cup
SHANE Hollamby was Hartley Wintney’s hat-trick hero as they came back from two goals down to book a place in the next round of the FA Cup with a 5-2 extra preliminary round replay victory over visiting Kidlington.
The village side were out of the blocks slowly and found themselves two goals down after 15 minutes.
Hartley’s Hollamby netted the first goal of his hat-trick after 44 minutes to keep his side in the game.
Hollamby hit the equaliser and player/manager Ben Dillon thought he had given his side the lead, but an offside decision wiped out the goal.
The home side were not to be denied as Jack Coventry’s free-kick with seven minutes to go gave them the lead.
Hartley then made sure of their passage and a trip to Badshot Lea in the next round as Hollamby completed his hat-trick and Chris Williamson netted the fifth.
Boss Dillon said: “It was a great win and we have drawn with Badshot this season, but it will be a tough cup tie.”
Last Saturday, Hartley came from a goal down to share the spoils in the first FA Cup tie between the two sides thanks to a goal from Chris Fox.
The village side turn their attention back to the Combined Counties League Premier Division campaign as they look to continue their unbeaten start, but face a tricky trip to South Park on Saturday.
Then on Monday they entertain Alton Town in a game which has an earlier kick-off of 11.30am.
