Basingstoke Town Spades win Whitchurch Bowls League
BASINGSTOKE Town Spades have been crowned Whitchurch League champions after they thumped Alton 67-41.
Second-placed Kingsclere went down at Hook (62-51) and third-placed Howard Park did likewise at St Mary Bourne (41-35).
Strugglers Andover A beat their B team 55-38 but will be lucky to hold on to their Division One status.
Hyde Abbey pushed Littleton Leopards firmly to the bottom, although the Leopards have played one match less than the three teams above.
In Division Two, Marnell B went down at leaders Oakley A (50-39) and Alton Social stay second having beaten Old Basing. Both are set for promotion to division one for the first time.
Howard Park C just beat St Mary Bourne by one shot (50-49) and Hook Hares did the same at Kingsclere (55-54).
Once again it is all change at the top of Division Three. Whitchurch Blues have gone top having worked off a backlog of games which included their win against Friary (53-35).
Blacks are second having thumped the Yellows 66-49, but Yellows still have matches in hand to set up an exciting end to the season.
Old Basing Roundheads are fourth having beaten Towns Jokers 47-40, while Thornycroft have anchored Littleton to the bottom after a 50-47 victory.
Division Four champions, Town Diamonds, went down against St Mary Bourne Merlins (49-46).
Second-placed Andover C somewhat humbled Old Basing Royalists (56-18) and the only other result was a win for Hook Foxes at Oakley C (49-48).
In the Stan Hardman Central Division, Howard Park A took all seven points from Odiham D in a hard-fought match to seal a play-off place against Whitchurch.
