BASINGSTOKE and North Hants III remain second in Hampshire League County Division Three North after beating local rivals Hook and Newnham Basics III by 24 runs.
Leon Nurse top-scored with 73 as Basingstoke reached 260-8 from their allotted overs, while Hook bowler Steve Cates finished with figures of 3-44.
Sam Bruin excelled with the bat for Hook, making a fine 123, but nobody was able to stay with him at the other end for long enough and the visitors were bowled out for 236, Dan King taking 3-28 for Basingstoke.
Overton claimed a 41-run win over Littleton and West Hill, thanks in no small part to Dan Johnson, who made 83 of their 241-9. Visiting Littleton were then restricted to 200-9 in reply.
Matt Evans made 92 as Hartley Wintney II reached 204-5 at East Woodhay, but the home team knocked off the runs to win by four wickets. Whitchuch also lost, being bowled out for 160 chasing Michelmersh and Timsbury’s 266-7 to go down by 106 runs.
Struggling Old Basing picked up a valuable win in their battle to avoid relegation from Division One, beating hosts Lymington II by 34 runs. Dan Belcher made 126 of his side’s total of 281-6, while the home side were bowled out for 247 in reply.
Hook and Newnham Basics II did not fare so well at Waterlooville, being bowled out for just 55 chasing 275-9 to lose by a massive 225 runs.
AWE Tadley beat Andover III by 25 runs in Division Four North. James Lovegrove top-scored with 55 as home side Tadley made 167-6, while Omair Kiani and Mike Burt both took three wickets as the visitors were bowled out for 142.
John Munday’s 102 was not enough to see struggling Ramsdell to victory over visiting Donnington. The hosts made 224-5 but Donnington reached their target for a seven-wicket win.
Hobos went down by 132 runs at Petersfield, being bowled out for 136 chasing 268-8.
