Hickstead success for Basingstoke horse rider Jordon Marshall
BASINGSTOKE rider Jordon Marshall won the Children on Horses class at the Longines Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead in Sussex.
Marshall was riding her mother Louise Sillett’s horse Micklow Madness, who they have owned for four years.
After her victory, the rider, based at Wellington Riding Centre, said: “He went really well today. He’s a big personality and he has to have his own way, but we get on really well because I’ve ridden him for so long.”
Children on Horses gives young riders aged 12 to 16 the opportunity to compete on horses (exceeding 14.2 hands high), which helps prepare them for senior competition. It is the first time Hickstead has held this competition.
Alongside the international showjumping and national classes for amateurs and young horses, the six-day show features some of the biggest and most prestigious show-jumping competitions in the country.
