Biathle pair Bradley Sutton and Hannah Parker secure world championship spots
BRADLEY Sutton and Hannah Parker both booked their places at next month’s Biathle World Championships in Cyprus with high finishes at the National Biathle Championships at Salford Quays.
Parker (16) was fourth and now will hope to keep clear of the injuries that have dominated her season so far, ahead of her trip to the Mediterranean island.
Brighton Hill Community School pupil Sutton (14) finished sixth overall to earn his place and it means he has qualified for the World Championships for the fourth consecutive year – a great result as he is in the first year of his age group.
The result was also enough to earn him the outright victory in the GB Series after he was also first in Black-pool and second in Weymouth.
This adds to his success this summer, having already won World Tour gold.
Sutton will now be training hard to keep his fitness levels up for the August Youth European Continental and Olympic Pentathlon qualifier in Solihull before turning his attention to Cyprus.
Unfortunately younger sister Jessica missed out on qualifying for the worlds in what was her first year in her age group.
But the 13-year-old, who won a Youth C crown in the World Tour, will no doubt come back stronger next year.
