Louis Lynch and James Beckwith star for Hartley Wintney II
LOUIS Lynch and James Beckwith were the heroes as Hartley Wintney II secured a six-wicket victory over visiting Holybourne in Hampshire League County Division Three North.
Beckwith took 4-39 as Holybourne were restricted to 203-9, while Lynch hit an unbeaten 71 to guide the home side to victory.
Simon Buckingham made 75 and Vinny Gardner 57 as Hook and Newnham Basics III reached 184-3 at home to OTs and Romsey III – but this did not prove to be enough, the visitors winning by four wickets despite Steve Cates taking 4-19.
Father and son Andy (68) and Bradley Neal (56 not out) were in top form for Basingstoke and North Hants III as they reached 234-6 at Hursley Park II. However, the day ended in disappointment as the home side knocked off the required runs to win by five wickets.
There were also defeats for both Overton and Whitchurch. Lewis Watts made 67 as Overton were bowled out for 192 at Redlynch and Hale, who got home to win by three wickets despite Andrew Galvin taking 3-44. Whitchurch lost by 147 runs at local rivals Longparish, being bowled out for 106 chasing 253-5.
There was more bad news in Division One as both Hook and Newnham Basics II and Old Basing lost.
Hosting Ventnor II, Hook were bowled out for 212 to lose by 20 runs, Keith Lovelock top-scoring with 51 as they tried in vain to chase down the visitors’ all-out total of 232.
Darren Turner top-scored with 54 as struggling Old Basing were bowled out for 204 by visiting Waterlooville, who went on to win by eight wickets.
There was a local derby in Division Four North, with Hobos hosting Ramsdell. Paul Jury was in fine form with the ball for Ramsdell, taking 5-21 as the home side were bowled out for 92, with the visitors winning by four wickets.
Struggling AWE Tadley lost at Donnington. The hosts were bowled out for 164, Mike Burt and Andy Rimmer claiming three wickets each, but Tadley were then dismissed for 148 to lose by 16 runs.
