ODIHAM and Greywell remain on course to win the Hampshire League Regional Division Two title after claiming a 92-run victory from a tricky trip to Burghclere.

Dave Hiscock made 147, John Hodgeson 112 and Kyran Munt an unbeaten 52 as Odiham smashed their way to 345-3 from their 42 overs. Rain reduced the target to 255 from 31 overs but Burghclere were well short, ending their innings on 163-5.

St Mary’s are down to third after suffering a rare off-day at home to Herriard. Gareth Cloutt made 117 as the visitors reached 231-7, with Raj Makkunuri and Dan Vickery taking three wickets each. Spencer Champ then blasted through the dangerous St Mary’s batting line-up, taking 6-30 as the home side were shot out for just 85.

Struggling Hartley Wintney III lost again, going down by eight wickets away at Steep II. Rex Porter hit an unbeaten 89 as Hartley reached 172-9 and the hosts knocked off the runs required for the loss of two wickets.

Old Basing II’s home game against Rowledge III was cancelled due to the rain, as were the matches involving Ashford Hill and Sherfield on Loddon in Division One North.

Kingsclere looked on course for another win when their trip to Bentworth was abandoned. Will Gee made 92 and Ben Hardy 51 as Kingsclere made 239-5, while the hosts were 70-3 when the match was called off.

Visiting Oakley beat Rotherwick ITW by 100 runs. Charlie Parker made 86 and Adam Robinson 53 as Oakley reached 260-6 and, while Ian Finlayson made 99, struggling Rotherwick could only muster 160-5.

Basingstoke and North Hants IV also won. Having made 207-7 batting first, Basingstoke saw the rain reduce hosts Petersfield II’s target to 158 – but they came up 25 runs short, ending on 133-5.

There were a number of local derbies in Division Three North East.

Leaders Odiham and Greywell II beat struggling AWE Tadley II by nine wickets, Chris Wiltshire taking 7-20 as Tadley were bowled out for just 58.

There was also a nine-wicket win for Ramsdell II, who batted well to beat hosts Basingstoke and North Hants V. Lucas Freer top-scored with 65 as Basingstoke made 180-6 but Magnus Wilson (92 not out) and Andy Barrett (62 not out) saw the visitors to victory.

It was a much closer match between Overton II and Silchester. Gary Osmond made 61 as Overton were bowled out for 209 but Silchester came up just short, ending their innings on 207-8.

Josh Bland guided Hook and Newnham Basics IV to an eight-wicket win over visiting Aldershot V. Bland’s unbeaten 55 saw Hook go past their reduced target of 106, Aldershot having been dismissed for 172.

Despite having only 10 players, Herriard II completed a six-wicket victory over visiting Ashford Hill II in Division Four North East.

Mark Ridley top-scored with 57 as Ashford Hill made 185-9, with Pat McCarthy and Jordan Coombs both taking three wickets. Miles Kellock guided Herriard to victory with an unbeaten 81, while Dave Boshir took 3-39 for Ashford Hill.

Third-placed Old Basing III beat hosts Odiham and Greywell III by 61 runs. Kannan Kumara made 65 as Basing reached 279-8 and while Odiham’s target was reduced to 166 from 25 overs due to rain, they were only able to manage 105-7.

Herriard III lost by six wickets at Petersfield III, failing to defend their all-out total of 156 despite Wayne Good taking 3-33.

Oakley II’s home game against Otterbourne III did not go ahead as the visitors could not raise a side, while Whitchurch II were unable to field a team for their trip to Verwood II in Division Four North West.
