BASINGSTOKE Town fans’ favourite Simon Dunn has re-signed for another season at the Camrose.

The away fans player of the season scooped another award on Friday night, when he picked up the coveted players’ player trophy at Town’s end of season presentation night, to cap a fine first full campaign.

Another pleasing factor for the Town hierarchy is the 21-year-old has come through the ranks at the club, being an academy player before making it into the first team.

Basingstoke Town manager Jason Bristow is delighted to have one of his up-and-coming stars back for another campaign after he signed a one- year deal.

Delighted Bristow, right, said: “It is fantastic for us as there was interest from other clubs, and I think it is going to be a big year for Simon, before he moves on to playing at a higher level.”

Dunn, who lives in Tadley, is looking forward to next season, and said: “I am playing week in, week out, and am really looking forward to playing in the FA Cup and FA Trophy as I missed that last year.

“I only got into the side in November and, unfortunately, we had been knocked out of both by then.”

“I am looking forward to playing alongside Jordace Holder-Spooner again and I think linking up with Manny Williams will really help me to improve my game. I am an attacking midfielder so I will also be looking to add a few more goals to my tally.”

Dunn was chuffed to pick up his players’ player award. He said: “It is always nice to be recognised by your peers.”

Along with Dunn, three other academy players have signed for the coming campaign – goalkeeper Joe McDonnell, Kieron Maylen and Alex Charlick.

Town boss Bristow said: “It is good for the club that there are now four players on contracts and it will inspire others to follow them.”

Top defender Rob Rice also made it a double winning season as he picked up the manager’s award to go with his supporters club player of the year gong on Friday night.
