TEN-MAN Baughurst AFC produced a shock result in the final of the North Hants Saturday Junior Cup as they beat Welly Old Boys Reserves.

It was their goalkeeper Dan Tuck who received his marching orders in the first-half and three different players took turns in goal thereafter.

Welly's second string never really got over conceding a goal in the first minute as their ’keeper Darren Gary spilled a straight forward free-kick from Garry Brown and Andy Clemence hooked in the loose ball.

Gary then had to tip Tom Etheridge’s free-kick over the bar, before Baughurst scored again on 27 minutes.

Doug Dickenson did well to head off the line and then for some unknown reason pushed Clemence in the back, giving Baughurst a penalty.

Etheridge made no mistake from the spot, sending Gary the wrong way.

On 39 minutes, Baughurst were reduced to 10 men as Neil Greenwood broke clear and last man goalkeeper Dan Tuck brought him down, which earned his marching orders.

Striker Brown took over the gloves and he did well to get a hand on Charlie Smith’s spot kick, but the ball spun back and ended up in off the post.

Just before half-time Stuart Murfitt saw his header cleared off the line by Max Mulliner.

A thigh injury to replacement goalkeeper Brown meant Baughurst started the second-half with another outfield player Kyle Andrews taking over.

Welly’s Greenwood and Smith went close before Baughurst made it 3-1 on 68 minutes.

A long ball into the six-yard box by Michael Panting fell to Ryan Harrison who planted the easy chance past Gary.

Within a minute it became 4-1 with Gary again at fault, when he failed to collect a 40-yard free kick from sub Nick Monger and Harrison had an easy tap-in.

Welly pulled a goal back with six minutes left as Gus Reiss’ free-kick led to a scramble for the ball in the six-yard box and Murfitt managed to force it home.

However, that was as close as they got and Baughurst sub Lance Chard twice nearly added to their tally.
