Chineham claim biggest win of the season

CHINEHAM RFC claimed their best win of the season so far, beating fourth-placed Fawley 13-12 at Castle Field last Saturday.
A strong start saw the hosts take the lead through coach and No 8 Matty Mullin, with Dan Waller adding the extras. The Fawley forwards then forced their way over for a try but Waller’s penalty put Chineham 10-5 up at the break.
The hosts had flanker Luke Dyer sent to the sin-bin in the second period and Fawley capitalised, being awarded a penalty-try to take a 12-10 lead.
However, Chineham did not give in and dominated the rest of the game, eventually getting their noses in front through the boot of Waller to claim a very good win that leaves them eighth in the table.
Overton remain third after a comfortable 37-10 win away at struggling Fareham Heathens. Neither north Hampshire side is in action this weekend.
Tadley remain in relegation trouble near the bottom of the Southern Counties North after losing 19-0 at home to local rivals Thatcham. They travel to fifth-placed Olney this weekend.
In the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Championship, Aldermaston went down 35-14 away at table-topping Farnham Royal, while Kingsclere’s trip to Abingdon was postponed. Kingsclere travel to Crowthorne this week, while Aldermaston are without a game.
