THE Basingstoke Bison remain in contention for the English Premier League title after beating the Swindon Wildcats in an 11-goal thriller on Sunday night.

The Herd got off to an excellent start in Wiltshire, with goals from Jaroslav Cesky, Joe Greener and Greg Chambers putting them 3-0 up after just 12 minutes.

However, Swindon hit back to lead 4-3 by the end of the first period thanks to Aaron Nell's hat-trick and Matias Aleksi Perkkio's goal.

Back came the Bison, with Doug Sheppard and Greg Owen putting them in front again - but Swindon equalised through Perkkio at 29:56, making it 5-5.

That was the way it remained until four minutes from the end of the game, when Chambers netted his second of the night on the powerplay to secure a 6-5 win for the Herd.

The win means the Bison remain in contention for the EPL title - but the Guildford Flames need to win just one of their last four games to clinch top spot.
