Matt Le Tissier will be the star attraction next month to mark Overton United FC’s centenary year.

The club will host a sports dinner with the legendary former Southampton striker at Overton’s St Luke’s Hall on Friday 12th April to help raise funds to reach their £5,000 target.

As part of the celebrations, the club also plans to install an honours board in the club house in recognition of previous managers, players, committee members and supporters.

Ex-player Bob Cradduck has sponsored the cost of the board, while former managers including Bela Schmidt, Alex Walker and Kevin McDonnell are among those to have lent their support. To date Overton United FC have received donations totalling more than £2,500 from those associated with the club.

Tickets for the Matt Le Tissier dinner are available at £40 each or £320 for a table of eight and includes dinner from Redfort, Overton’s popular Indian restaurant. There will be a licensed bar with waitress service, while an auction will also be held to help raise funds.

Those wishing to buy tickets for the dinner, or make a £25 donation to be included in the project, should contact Adrian Gibbons on 01256 771749 or by email to adrian.p.gibbons@btinternet.com
