Basingstoke RFC look forward with rugby strategy

BASINGSTOKE RFC have put together a rugby strategy that sets out their aims and ambitions for the years ahead.

The document, which is to be made available to members and potential sponsors, details how the club is looking to move forward in three key areas.

The first relates to the club’s community involvement, with the aim to deliver rugby programmes to an even broader spectrum of people. The second is on-pitch performance, with the aim to create a “high performance sporting club” – while the third area concerns improving facilities at Down Grange to allow the club to grow.

Dr Steve Tristram, club chairman, said: “We are bursting at the seams at the moment and there will come a point where we are not able to continue as we are, so we have put together a document stating where we would like to be in an ideal world.

“For some time we have been undecided about what to do moving forward as a club, and this gives us something to work towards.

“The idea is to demonstrate the energy in the club and to let people know what we need to be successful in terms of buildings and equipment. Hopefully, it will get everyone on-side with regards to improving the facilities at Down Grange.”

Copies of the strategy will be made available to existing and potential sponsors at a networking event being held at Down Grange next Thursday.

The main topic of the event, which gets underway at 5pm, will be to explain what businesses can expect should they choose to become sponsors. For more details, contact Samantha Scott on 01256 471508 or email sscott@merit.eu.com
