Loddon win to move off bottom of bowls league

IN LAST weekend’s competitive matches, Loddon Vale beat Bannister Park 82-76, a result that lifts them off the foot of the table at the expense of Rushmoor.

Ray Harris won 21-16, Jeff White 19-18 and Ted Brown 23-22. Only Neil Clarke lost, going down 20-19. Chawton Park are still top slot of the Bramley and lead Victory by nine points, although they have played one more match.

On Monday the club hosted a friendly match against a Witney & District touring team returning from their weekend at Bournemouth.

The opposition put up a spirited fight but eventually went down 137-116.

Loddon’s winning rinks were skipped by Ian Laming (28-9), Don Lee (20-19), Sheila Girle (19-18), Harris (20-10) and John Holmes (20-15). Losing rinks were Steve Sallows (21-10) and Peter Grant (24-20).
