TOTALLY Tennis Performance player Alex Dawson won the Grade 5 Boys 14-and-under singles title at the David Lloyd centre in Southampton.

Competing in the main draw of the compass event, Dawson beat Alexander Simpson in his first match 5-3, 4-1, followed by Joshua Hosler in the quarter-finals 4-0, 4-0.

After a walkover against Jack Ison in the semi-finals, Dawson won the final, beating Matthew Spencer in a tie-break decider 4-5(3), 5-3, 1-0 (0) to take the title.

Younger brother Aaron, who plays in the Mini Performance squad, was runner-up in the Greenacre nine-and-under Mixed County Tournament. He beat Benjamin Crofts 4-1 in the quarter-finals, followed by a semi-final encounter with Xavier Mohindra, which he won 4-0 – but he lost out in the final to Alexander Raven 4-2.

Team-mate Tillie Reid was also runner-up in the eight-and-under Greenacre Mixed event. Reid won Group A, beating Darcy Herring Johnson 10-4, Phoebe Coleman 10-5 and Jonathan Dawkins 10-2.

In the main draw, she defeated Jack Craik in the semi-final 10-6 but was beaten in the final in a close match by Lucy Hutchison 16-14.

The previous week, Reid had a mixed bag of results at the Windsor eight-and-under Mixed County Tour. Competing in Group B, Reid won three of her matches, beating Jonathan Dawkins 10-0, Georgly Lesyuk 10-8 and Will Gillies 10-5.

But she lost to box winner Oliver Stavis 10-4 and runner-up Eva Lancaster 10-8 to go out.
