Basketball team miss out on promotion

BASINGSTOKE Blizzards basketball team failed to gain promotion last Sunday as they lost at Woking 71-62.
They still have another chance to go up when they entertain Woodley Amigos on Tuesday with the tip-off at 8.25pm at Queen Mary’s College.
They travelled to face the Woking Hunters with a weakened side Rob Bloomer, Joey Haynes, Jim Darlow and Andy Richardson.
The game started slowly with the Blizzards gradually taking command of the game leading 10-6 and with Rob Gerrard and Aaron Taylorson making the difference they finished the quarter 18-14 up and by half-time they were still leading 35-29.
The Blizzards held their lead till the fifth minute of the third quarter when they were hit by 10 points and they found themselves trailing 48-43.
The visitors failed to find the needed push in the final quarter as the final score ended 71-62.
