OVERTON United will be hoping to avenge a defeat earlier in the season when they entertain AFC Aldermaston in a local derby in the Hampshire Premier League on Saturday.

The game kicks-off at 2pm with the home side just one point above their rivals in the table.

When these sides last met back in early September, Aldermaston won 2-1 thanks to goals from Dan Alliston and Matt Wilkins, while Ollie Ambrose replied for Overton.

The visitors will come into the game as slight favourites as they have a 100 per cent record in 2013 after they beat visiting Colden Common 3-1 last Saturday.

Overton suffered their second defeat on the trot as they went down 4-1 at the University of Portsmouth and will be hoping to recapture the form that saw them win six games on the trot.

Aldermaston boss Terry Rooney said: “We are keeping our feet on the ground and will look forward to playing Overton.”

His opposite number, Overton manager Titch Bloomfield, said: “My players will be up for a local derby and I want us to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.”

Aldermaston took another good scalp last Saturday, beating second-placed Colden Common 3-1 with all the goals coming from the penalty spot.

Aldermaston took the lead when Dexter Skipp was brought down in the area and Kai Parton Edey scored from the spot.

Another attack saw the penalty taker brought down in the box and he dusted himself down to make it 2-0.

Colden were given a lifeline as the home side scored a penalty of their own. After the break, Matt Wilkins hit the post and was then brought down in the area, allowing Parton Edey to complete his hat-trick from the spot.

Overton never recovered from being 3-0 down before half-time against University of Portsmouth.

After the break they came back strongly until a harsh penalty stopped them in their tracks as the Pompey side scored a fourth. Overton also scored from the spot thanks to Dan Houseman after Andrew Charsley was brought down.
