TADLEY and District Boxing Club fighters have been in action over the past few weeks with mixed results.

Jimmy Wall fought Jimmy McDonagh from Walcott in a 44kg schoolboy quarter-final championship bout.

Wall boxed very well and did not look out of place in the ring, despite being up against a much more experienced opponent.

After three hard contested rounds the Tadley fighter lost by a unanimous decision, although it was a very close fight.

Tommy James (10) fought in a 40kg skills bout with George Joy from Waterside. Both boys showed good boxing skills but, as it was a skills bout, no winner was decided.

Also in action was 11-year-old Paul James, who boxed Sam Nutall from Titchfield.

James, showing superior boxing skills throughout, outpointed his opponent for a unanimous points win.

His performance also saw him win the best boxer of the night trophy at the Waterside ABC show which was a great achievement as it was only his second competitive bout.

Tadley Boxing Club is based at Ash Business Park in Bramley and train on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6pm. For more details, contact Paul James on 07747 778945.
