THE BASINGSTOKE Bison slipped from the summit of the English Premier League after losing 7-6 on penalty shots at the Hangar against the Slough Jets on Saturday night.
In an even first period Slough’s Michael Wales opened the scoring with the Bison’s Joe Rand equalising.
The Herd then took a 3-1 advantage thanks to man-of-the-match Rand and Tony Redmond.
However, by the second buzzer the Jets were level after Daniel Rose and Wales netted.
As the period came to a close the Bison’s Joe Miller was dismissed from the game for high sticking.
This gave the Jets a five minute powerplay and they took a 5-3 lead as Ciaran Long and Frantisek Bakrlik scored with the man advantage.
Dan Davies then added a sixth for the home side, before the visitors hit back as Greg Chambers, Doug Sheppard and finally Greg Owen two minutes from time tied the game.
Overtime failed to split the sides, but penalty shots did as Slough scored their first two from Dan Davies and Darius Pliskauskas and the Bison only netted one from Jaroslav Cesky.
