Indoor success for Basingstoke and NH youngsters

BASINGSTOKE and North Hants swept into the NatWest Under-16 Indoor Cricket Championship play-offs after comfortable back-to-back wins at the Rose Bowl.

Bradley Taylor was to the fore in the victories over Hursley Park and Hambledon, which took the Bounty boys’ record to eight wins in nine matches.

In their first game Basingstoke beat Hursley Park by 44 runs as Taylor (29) and Max Harsham (25) helped them to a match winning score of 132-1.

In reply, their Hampshire rivals reached 88-2, falling well short of their target.

In their second game, Basingstoke enjoyed a 25-run success over Hambledon.

Once again the Bounty boys batted first, Taylor leading the way with 32, supported well by Bradley Neal (25), Harsham (17) and Nitin Matthew (16) as they made 135-3.

Hambledon got a lot nearer then Hursley, but they fell short, eventually finishing on 110-3.
