'Stoke unable to secure bonus point in Kent

BASINGSTOKE RFC's hopes of winning promotion from London One South were dealt a blow as they failed to secure a four-try bonus point away at Dover on Saturday.

The Down Grange club defeated their hosts 22-0 but only scored three tries, meaning that Chichester, who collected all five points from their game against Beckenham, are now two points above them in second place.

Freddie Gleadowe scored two tries as Basingstoke built up a 15-0 lead at half-time - but they were only able to add one more try after the break, Matt Horne going over in the early stages.

See The Monday Gazette for a full report and reaction from the game.
