OVERTON United’s super winning streak continued as they made it six victories on the trot with a 2-1 success over visiting Hampshire Premier League second-placed side Clanfield last Saturday.

The home side dominated the game from the start and last week’s hat-trick hero Harry Rudge, a threat all game, rounded the visiting goalkeeper, only to see his shot cleared off the line.

Overton then took the lead on 15 minutes as Jordan Grant knocked the ball in to Myles Englefield and from 30-yards out he fired in a screamer into the top corner.

Before the break, the home side doubled their advantage as Grant and Alex Jupp combined on the left and from there Andrew Charsley found Rudge, who finished with a left foot shot.

After the break, Clanfield came looking for goals, but Matt Harris, Henry Salmon and Kieran Fuller dealt with everything that was thrown at them, until four minutes into added on time.

A delighted Titch Bloomfield said: “Myles Englefield was our man-of-the-match for his tireless effort, closing people down and a threat going forward. He led by example in another great team performance.

“Everyone is buzzing around the club and we can’t wait for the next game.”

This Saturday, Overton are on a revenge mission when AFC Stoneham visit (kick-off 2pm). They lost the reverse fixture earlier in the season 1-0, with the winner coming four minutes from time.

AFC Aldermaston will hope to repeat what Overton did on Saturday, when they entertain Clanfield (kick-off 3pm). Their home game last weekend to Fleetlands was postponed.
