Welly crash out of Hampshire Cup
10:00am Wednesday 6th February 2013 in Sport By Peter Raynbird
TOP Southampton side Solent Saints proved too good for visiting Welly Old Boys in the Hampshire Junior A Cup.
The home side led 2-0 at half-time and then Welly were hit by a harsh looking penalty for hand-ball against Craig Gorka after 57 minutes.
Solent scored, but three minutes later the home side were also penalised for hand ball and Ben Nicholls scored from the spot kick to make it 3-1.
After conceding a fourth, Welly netted their second as Tobie Hyde and Matt Button combined and Dan Francis’ cross was headed in by Button.
There was no further comeback as, almost straight from the kick-off, Solent grabbed a fifth.
