Snow go for football and rugby matches - but Bison play on

THE heavy snow has had a big impact on the Basingstoke sporting scene, with both Basingstoke Town and Basingstoke RFC having games postponed.

Town's Blue Square Bet South match against Maidenhead United, which was due to take place at the Camrose this afternoon, was called off following a 9am pitch inspection, with snow completely covering the playing area.

The rugby club's trip to Hove in London One South was called off yesterday afternoon, with conditions ruled unplayable in Sussex.

However, the Basingstoke Bison will be in action today. Their home game against fellow high-flyers the Manchester Phoenix looked in doubt at one stage, but the club have now confirmed that it will go ahead.
