Basingstoke Bison suffer penalty shot heartache in Sheffield
9:36pm Sunday 6th January 2013 in Sport By Graham Merry
FOR the second time in two away games the Basingstoke Bison suffered defeat after a penalty shoot-out.
This after the visitors had come back from a goal down scored by Greg Wood to lead 3-1 thanks to Doug Sheppard, Greg Chambers and Joe Rand.
Former Bison Wood scored on the powerplay to make it 3-2 and then in the final period Lee Haywodd netted after Andre Payette had been dismissed for head butting.
With no further scoring the game was decided by penalty shots with Pavel Gomeniuk and Wood being successful for Sheffield, while Chambers and Jaroslav Cesky failed for the Herd.
