TOTALLY Tennis Mini Performance players Aaron Dawson, Isla Hignett and Jasmin Bromilow all competed in the Bradfield nine and under Mixed Singles County Tournament held at Bradfield Tennis Club.

In the group stages, Dawson had two tough three set matches to win his group and progress to the main draw, beating Harry Blair 7-1, 5-7, 7-2 and Danilo Mutavdzic 7-1, 6-7, 7-2.

Hignett also made it through to the quarter-finals, defeating William Burridge 2-7, 7-6, 7-5 but losing to Ryan O’Sullivan 7-5, 7-1.

Bromilow was not so lucky, bowing out at the group stages after losing to Stefan Mutavdzic in three sets 7-4, 5-7, 7-5 and Theodore Mara 7-2, 7-2.

In the quarter-finals, Dawson beat Benjamin Crofts in another three set match 7-1, 6-7, 7-5 but Hignett lost to eventual winner Mara 7-2, 7-5.

Mara then went on to beat Dawson 7-5, 7-4 in their semi-final match. Dawson finished third overall in a re-match from his group, defeating Mutavdzic for the second time 7-4, 7-4.

In the 14 and under boys singles at the David Lloyd centre in Heston, older brothers Miles Bromilow and Liam Hignett faced a tough challenge.

Both boys dipped out of the main draw at the quarter-final stage, with Hignett losing to Stefan Lossev 4-1, 4-1 and David Olenski beating Bromilow 4-2, 4-2.

In the consolation rounds, both boys lost in the semi- finals – Arion Thomas defeated Bromilow 4-1, 2-4, 10-1 and Hamzah Hussain beat Hignett 4-0, 4-0. Hignett then beat Bromilow 4-1, 4-2 to claim third place.

Coach James McIntosh said: “Aaron played really well at Bradfield in some hard three set matches and finished a respectable third.

“Liam and Miles faced some very tough competition at the Heston Tournament but the experience will stand them in good stead for future events.”
