BASINGSTOKE Town were knocked out of the Hampshire Senior Cup by Wessex League outfit GE Hamble on Tuesday night.

The game was goal-less at half-time and it was the lower league hosts who took the lead on 55 minutes, Jamie Barron smashing the ball home from the edge of the area.

Town were on top for much of the match but were unable to make their pressure count. The home goalkeeper made some important saves but Basingstoke were also guilty of some wasteful finishing.

See Thursday's Gazette for a full report and all of the reaction to Town's defeat.
